Lt. Terry Mulkeen was a 1977 graduate of Mt. Lebanon (PA) High School.   He received a B.S. degree in mechanical engineering from Carnegie Mellon University in 1981, and entered Officers Candidate School in the US Navy.  He flew jets in a squadron that trained other pilots in adversary tactics.  While serving in his tenth year, he died in a training accident at Key West Naval Air Station in March, 1991.

On the night he died, his childhood friends created the Lt. Terrence Mulkeen Memorial Scholarship.  It is awarded to a graduating scholar-athlete from Mt. Lebanon HS.  For 25 years, supportive friends and family held a golf tournament to raise funds.  The award now stands at $8,000.

To apply, a student must have a 3.25 GPA and have lettered in a Western PA Interscholastic (WPIAL) sport.
